Back at the end of 2007, I posted this quote:-
” Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your own heart and intuition.”
I had found it in a weekend magazine and cut it out….I still have the cutting now, pinned to the design wall behind me as I type. At the time ( June 2005) it hit a chord, and it remains a something in which I believe. It was apparently said by Steve Jobs to Stanford University Graduates in about 2004. He died today after a long battle with cancer – I did not know him, and whatever he was really like, I feel a bit sad none the less. He was obviously an incredibly clever person, with wonderful vision, who did amazing things with the help and assistance of great staff in the Apple corporation. At only 56, he was far too young to die.
All I can say is that I made the switch to an Apple computer a couple of years ago, wish I had done it sooner, and am the happy owner of an iPad……..while I lust after an iPhone…..Apple made computers and technology easy for ordinary folk to understand, for which I am grateful, and I am sure the industry will feel his loss.
