Remember this? Made a couple of months ago as part of Shelagh Folgate’s Creative Challenge – it was made with various layers of kunin felt, organza, machine embroidery and stitching using lines from a photograph? The current header is a portion of it, after it had been blasted with a heat gun……
It has been reborn……. and I think just about the funkiest thing I have done so far!
The original (top photo) was blasted with a heat gun, then cut into four uneven pieces, stitched together again to make a weird sort of rectangle, some running stitch and french knots added, then stitched into a cylinder, a bottom piece added, and the whole treated again with the heat gun. Seeing that it was all really experimental, and I had no idea how it would turn out, I am pleased with it, and will certainly do something along the same lines again, but with a little more planning.
Shelagh is doing another Creative Challenge, starting in June. It is free, details are on her website, where you can now also purchase earlier challenges.
