I shall be taking a small blogging break until next week as today I am going to Melbourne to attend the Australian Quilt Convention. It is being held in the Royal Exhibition Building. Do follow this link as it it a most wonderful 1880’s building with an interesting history.
The publicity blurb describes the AQC as….
“Australia’s international, world class quilting event with visitors from all around Australia traveling to attend and quilts coming from France, New Zealand, Belgium, the UK, the USA and every corner of Australia. Of particular interest this week will be quilts honouring our Anzacs and war veterans, from the AP&Q-AQC Challenge exhibition.” And then, of course, there are the shops from all over the country……
I shall be doing classes with Rosalie Dace , a contemporary quilter, on each of the four days, focussing on design, color, pattern and texture, rather than a particular project. I never enjoy being in a class where everyone makes their version of the same thing, and usually choose technique over project every time. Also, as I make fewer and fewer large quilts these days, what I hope to learn will be relevant to anything else in the textile field I might try – it should be fantastic.
Back in a few days.
