It was a day in the big smoke today, on a quest for a special birthday present and some scouting for a bus trip I’m organising for the Embroidery Guild members in August. I didn’t find what I was looking for and settled for something else for this favourite neighbour, but had a great day which included some time with my daughter who was supposed to be working from home. She played hookey for an hour or so, to accompany me to a couple of needlework and fabric shops that will be on our itinerary. The target shops have not been finalised, but one will certainly be Beautiful Silks in Fitzroy. I called in to talk to them about our planned visit, and of course was tempted by their very helpful staff, and wonderful silky stuff.
These are different silk threads that I plan to dye, some silk and wool mix tops, silk chiffon, and hand dyed prefelt. The other customers when I arrived was none other than Dale and Ian Rollerson of Thread Studio fame, in Melbourne for Paperific at the Melbourne Showgrounds this coming weekend, so I said hello.
