I finished the band of cross stitch last night, and have attached it to a hand towel – this will be a gift for a friend’s birthday next month. I am not usually so well organised, but am pleased to have it completed and despite some early concerns about being able to see it well enough, I enjoyed the simple stitching in front of the television, and may well do some more.
This is something else I made last night ……………
It is a 5 minute chocolate mug cake made in the microwave – dangerous really for any chocoholic as it is easy, fast, and tastes OK. When desparate, it is almost an instant fix! For those who are interested this is the recipe:-
4 Tablespoons of SR flour
4 Tablespoons of sugar ( I used a bit less )
2 Tablespoons of cocoa
3 Tablespoons of milk
3 Tablespoons of oil ( I used melted butter as I only had olive oil )
3 Tablespoons of Chocolate chips ( optional – I omitted them )
A small splash of vanilla essence
Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil/butter and mix well. Add chocolate chips if you are using them and the oil, mix again.
Put the mug into the microwave and cook for three minutes at 100 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but may sink again when removed from the microwave. Allow to cool and tip onto a plate. Eat! There is enough for two people if you want to be less greedy………
My microwave is 1200 watts, so I cooked mine on level 6 for about 4 minutes – it was fine, and did not explode all over the oven as someone had warned me – I guess they might have cooked it on full power.
