In the 1960’s when I was at university in Adelaide, the student review was called The Purple Season – it followed a time when purple was the fashion colour of choice through winter, and I have liked it ever since. It is a colour I often wear, and certainly many of the plants in my garden are this rich and luscious colour. In early November I posted photos of many of these blooms and a little information about the purple and its significance in history.
Today I finished this book cover as a Christmas gift for my good friend Helen. She too loves purple so I hope she likes this. Inside is a unlined journal of heavy cartridge paper – she makes beautiful cards, and wanted something in which to stick bits and pieces, or note ideas to follow up. In reality the colour is not quite so light and bright – definitely more purple than blue.
